Portraits for Movidium

The Brief

We were recently hired to shoot portraits of film directors for the production agency Movidium.

The client were creating a brochure to show off the directors that they have on their rosta, so we booked a little photography studio and spent a day photographing a wide variety of great images.

The Backdrop

We chose this chestnut coloured backdrop for its wonderful warmth and how well it works with all skin tones. We have this backdrop in our stores as its become such a frequently requested colour.

The Lighting

We kept this incredibly simple and used one large but very soft light. We wanted there to be a fall-off of the light creating a beautiful natural vignette around the subjects. We always tend to keep this part of our shoots simple as lighting never needs to be complicated to make someone look great.

The Results

We’re so happy with the outcome of this shoot and so were the client. We absolutely love the challenge of helping people feel relaxed in front of the camera and often get told that we made the process way less intimidating than the subjects originally thought. When you’ve been shooting portraits of people for 15 years you know how to work with everyone no matter how comfortable they are in front of the camera!
